Claudia Abend is a Latin-American advertising director, editor and documentary filmmaker.
She has directed several campaigns with babies and kids. Her empathetic docustyle recognises the extraordinary in the ordinary, and her explorations always result in beautifully intimate and authentic portraits that help our understanding of what it means to be human.
Abend also has a background in directing, producing, writing, editing and teaching filmmaking at university. She received -twice- the Uruguayan Film Critics Association award for best film editing. As an advertising director, she was a recipient of a Golden FIAP and the public's choice award in the Desachate festival. And her last film received the Audience Award for best film at Festival de Málaga, Spain, and the Special Jury Prize at It’s All True Film Fest, Brazil. The film premiered at IDFA (Amsterdam), and received support from The Filmmaker Fund and Sundance Institute.
Claudia is currently working on her third feature-length film, a documentary that follows different stories of motherhood.
